Special Education Consulting and Advocacy
Special education in schools is a complex system with many legal requirements. Drawing from my twelve years of experience as a school-based SLP, where I engaged in and led IEP meetings on a weekly basis, I offer my expertise to help your family comprehend and maneuver through this complex system. This support could involve going over documents in advance of meetings so you feel more prepared, assisting you in formulating questions, suggestions, or modifications to the plan, and, if needed, being there alongside you during the meeting to provide backing for your family. My aim is to help ensure that your family's voice is heard and your needs are met within the special education framework.
What can I expect?
Strengths-Focused Assessment
Prior to embarking on our collaborative journey, I will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your child's speech and language capabilities. This assessment will not only identify their strengths and areas for growth but also involve meaningful conversations with you and your child (where appropriate) to understand your family's priorities. Should you desire collaboration with other experts, whether they are private practitioners or school-based professionals, I am enthusiastic about fostering teamwork. My mission revolves around optimizing communication, harnessing your child's strengths, and empowering them through a combination of their inherent abilities and the techniques they acquire through our work together.
Relationship-Centered Approach
A pivotal factor in successful speech therapy outcomes is the connection shared between the therapist and the client. My focus is on establishing a nurturing and positive environment that encourages growth for both you and your child. This relationship is foundational to our progress.
Openness and Honesty
While speech-language pathologists are adept at addressing a diverse range of needs, my specialization and experience align more closely with the areas I've outlined. I am committed to transparently communicating what falls within my expertise and acknowledging what lies outside my scope. If a challenge arises that falls beyond my purview, I am dedicated to collaboratively finding a suitable solution, even if that means seeking assistance from another professional who can provide the necessary support.

30-minute sessions are $65
45-minute sessions are $95
If my rate is not accessible, I would be more than happy to work with you and your family to provide services. Coming from a public school background, I am passionate about making services accessible to families who otherwise would not be able to engage in speech therapy.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! I am an ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) certified and have liability insurance.
Do you accept insurance (Medicaid or private insurance)?
Not yet. I am working towards getting credentialed with insurance companies and will update here when appropriate.
